    Abstract
The purpose of this capstone was to investigate principals’ actions and protective factors to support and increase teacher engagement, as well as steps that a principal can take to engage teachers in the change-management process. Research has shown that trust in the leader, a culture of collaboration, servant leadership, and a positive school culture and climate support teacher engagement. The importance of a well-developed sense of urgency cannot be understated. Creating and communicating a shared vision, as well as building teachers’ capacity through instructional leadership, also support teachers’ engagement in the change-management process.
