    Abstract
The aim of this research is to report on the implementation of an after-school arts program in order to provide a phenomenological account of one teacher's experience. Using an action-research approach, one teacher developed and facilitated an after-school arts program aimed at the empowerment of 18 female students, ages 9-11, who were considered at-risk based on demographic data. The program allowed its participants to create positive, healthy relationships while also providing for them a safe place for connection and expression through the arts. Further research from a longitudinal perspective through interviews or surveys is recommended.
