Physical activity and student engagement: How physical activity contributes to the culture of wellness.
Abstract
This project examined the research associated with the current state of physical education, physical fitness, physical activity levels, child and youth health problems (pertaining to the lack of aforementioned physical attributes), and their impact on the overall well being of children and youth in North America. Literature review centered on the benefits of integrated programs, the misconceptions surrounding the addition or reduction of allocated activity time, and the impact positive leadership can facilitate within the educational environment of schools. Recommendations were brought forward based on this literature review, which could have substantial impact on the learning capacities of all students and stakeholders associated with the education and well being of children and youth.
